August 30, 2025- the sun was shining bright over Brilliante United Methodist Church, but inside, a different kind of light was glowing—the light of passion, purpose, and mission. That morning, the halls of Brilliante UMC were filled with the buzz of eager young people, all gathered for the NOW Ministries Campus Ministry Seminar, a program designed to equip the youth to share their faith boldly on their campuses.
Led by the visionary Rev. Alvin Puerto, the seminar introduced participants to the “One Verse Evangelism” technique—a simple yet powerful tool to spark conversations about Jesus in everyday life. Rev. Puerto reminded everyone that evangelism doesn’t always have to be complicated. Sometimes, it’s as simple as living your faith well and sharing a single verse with someone who needs hope.
“This is about being intentional,” Rev. Puerto emphasized. “Each one of you can be a missionary in your own school, your own classroom, your own circle of friends. The Witness Committee is here to support you, but the real work begins with you.”
The seminar gained even more momentum with the encouraging presence of DS Rev. Augusto Rosario, who spoke with heartfelt conviction about the power of youth in God’s mission. His words challenged the young attendees to step out of their comfort zones, reminding them that their generation has a unique role to play in bringing the light of Christ to campuses across the district.
Adding another layer of inspiration, Rev. Jayson Quinit, Chair of the Nurture Committee, shared insights into the life of mission. Through stories, practical tips, and encouragement, he showed the delegates that missionary work isn’t just for distant lands—it starts right where they are, in classrooms, dormitories, and even online spaces.
By the end of the day, the young participants left not just with knowledge, but with a renewed sense of purpose. Conversations about faith no longer felt intimidating—they felt achievable. The seminar was more than just a training; it was a spark, igniting a movement of student missionaries ready to impact their peers with hope, love, and the transformative power of the Gospel.
Brilliante UMC now stands as a beacon, showing that with the right tools, guidance, and heart for mission, young people can truly become catalysts for change. As one participant reflected, “I realized today that I don’t have to wait until I’m older or in a different place to share Jesus. I can start now, right here, in my campus.”
And that, perhaps, is the truest success of the seminar: awakening a generation that is ready to be God’s hands and feet, starting right where they are.
