As part of the celebration of the 20th Founding Anniversary of CLD, a district-wide Blood Letting Program was successfully held at San Carlos United Methodist Church, carrying a bold and life-giving goal: to gather at least 100 bags of blood for those in critical need. R1MC Team from Dagupan City facilitated this medical endeavour through their Team Leader Ms. Melanie M. Tamondong.

The event formally began with a meaningful exhortation and prayer led by the District Superintendent, Rev. Augusto S. Rosario Jr. His words grounded the activity in faith, reminding everyone that acts of mercy and service are central to Christian witness. The prayer set a reverent tone, framing the blood letting not merely as a medical activity, but as a ministry of love in action.

Clergy and lay members from various local churches across the district—and even from neighboring districts—came together in a powerful display of unity and compassion. Joined by partners and other stakeholders, participants offered what may be the simplest yet most profound gift one can give: their own life-saving blood. The atmosphere was marked not just by organization and efficiency, but by deep purpose—everyone present understood that every bag collected represented hope, healing, and a second chance at life.

The host church, San Carlos UMC, under the leadership of Rev. Jonathan Andres, Chairperson of the CLD Workers League, extended remarkable hospitality. Together with the church council and members, they generously provided snacks and meals for donors and volunteers, ensuring that everyone was well cared for throughout the day. Their quiet efficiency and warm service reflected the heart of Christian stewardship.

Adding a unique and joyful touch to the event, Bro. Vic Catabona, CLD Lay Leader, shared 150 pieces of balut, Kakanin, and Lomi, much to the delight of the donors. The simple gesture sparked smiles and laughter, reinforcing the sense of fellowship that defined the gathering.
This Blood Letting Program was more than an anniversary activity—it was a living testimony of what the Church can accomplish when faith, service, and community converge. As CLD marks twenty years of ministry, this initiative stands as a strong reminder that the Church remains committed not only to proclamation, but to practical, life-saving compassion.
Indeed, the celebration of CLD’s founding found one of its most meaningful expressions not in words, but in willing arms, open hearts, and shared blood—given freely, so that others may live.
