October 11, 2025 | Gerona United Methodist Church
A meaningful gathering was held at Gerona United Methodist Church for Lay Leaders and Church Council Chairs across the Central Luzon District (CLD). The event aimed to enhance the participants’ understanding of their divine calling and their responsibilities as outlined in the United Methodist Church’s Book of Discipline (BOD).

A Day of Learning and Fellowship
The event brought together 17 lay people, 3 representatives from the Clergy Spouse Association (CSA), and 10 dedicated church workers from the CLD. It served as a vital opportunity for leaders to deepen their grasp of church governance, discipleship, and the spiritual essence of servant leadership.

One of the key objectives of this gathering was to organize and strengthen the network of Church Council Chairs and Lay Leaders—ensuring that every local church remains connected, equipped, and guided by a unified vision of faith and service.
Inspired Leadership and Guidance
The event was initiated by Brother Victor Catabona, the newly appointed yet already vibrant CLD Lay Leader, whose passion and dedication inspired the group to pursue continuous learning and collaboration.
Guiding the participants through the heart of their mission was Rev. Dante Garibay, Administrative Pastor of Gerona UMC, who served as the resource speaker. His message emphasized the importance of leadership rooted in faith, accountability, and compassion, reminding everyone that to lead in the church is to serve in love and humility.

Moving Forward with Purpose
As the session concluded, the participants shared renewed commitment and excitement to apply what they learned within their local churches. The gathering not only strengthened knowledge and organizational unity but also reaffirmed a deeper understanding of the sacred trust given to every lay leader and church council chair—to shepherd others faithfully and uphold the mission of the United Methodist Church.
✨ Indeed, when lay leaders and pastors walk hand in hand, the Church stands stronger and the mission of Christ shines brighter in every community.
