August 16, 2025 | Sulipa UMC – During the orientation on Church Ministries, Rev. Felipe Eugenio shared his inspiring testimony about the ongoing Cellgroup Ministry in his local church. He also presented the broader vision of the Daliasat (Lakbayin) Program of the Baguio Episcopal Area, which has become a fresh movement of discipleship within the United Methodist Church.
Daliasat—a term that means to travel together on a journey—is a basic pattern of discipleship uniquely conceptualized for the UMC in the Baguio Episcopal Area. Unlike many programs that rely heavily on pastoral leadership, Daliasat is not merely a pastor’s initiative but a local church-driven thrust program, meaning it belongs to the whole congregation and empowers lay members to actively participate in the life of discipleship and mission.
The focus of Daliasat is clear and missional: winning souls, discipling believers, consolidating the faith of members, and sending them out so that they too may multiply and continue the cycle of mission. This framework makes every member not just a recipient of the gospel but also a bearer of it. One of its core teachings is that church members must identify themselves not as a mission field, but as missionaries. Every believer is equipped and called to live out the Great Commission in their daily lives.

The program begins with a period of 21 days of prayer and fasting, combined with vision casting. This spiritual preparation lays the foundation for deeper commitment and clarity of purpose. From there, small groups are formed, becoming the primary context for nurturing relationships, spiritual accountability, and practical ministry.
Within these cell groups, participants are guided to practice daily devotion and journaling, alongside other spiritual disciplines such as prayer, Scripture meditation, and mutual encouragement. Over time, these small groups grow into strong communities of faith that equip individuals for wider missionary engagement—whether in their neighborhoods, workplaces, or larger mission fields.
Rev. Eugenio emphasized that the heart of Daliasat is multiplication through discipleship. By starting small but remaining intentional, the program envisions a church where every member is trained, empowered, and sent as a missionary, ensuring that the mission of Christ continues through generations.
Ultimately, Daliasat is not just a program but a movement of journeying together in discipleship and mission. It embodies the church’s identity as a community of sent people, responding faithfully to Christ’s call: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:19).
